Hello there. It is definitely a rainy day. And there are definitely about 6 to 7 boys doing who the hell knows what to my house while I am up here hiding in my office. I am completely fine with it. At one point I threw a package of hot dogs and a bottle of ketchup down the stairs and I think that they may have nourished themselves but I am not 100% sure and I am completely fine with that, too. Trash the house, boys. See if I care. As long as it means that no one is asking me for things/fighting/whining and doing any other activity that will elevate my irritation level then go for it.
Knock your little selves out.
Love who I get to show you today! Little Charlie is the son of one of my oldest friends, Jackie. Just because something crazy like 10 years has passed since I have seen her last doesn’t mean that she still doesn’t have a place in my heart. I can’t really even remember when we started being friends. Pop Warner cheer leading? 7th grade? I’m not sure but she has just always been there. She hasn’t changed a single bit since I have seen her last..she is one of the few people in the world who is truly good. Just good. A person that no one could or would ever say anything bad about. Forever in my mind Jackie will be bounding somewhere..anywhere..with a big smile and freckles on her face. It is crazy, CRAZY, to think that it has been 20 years since we were swimming in her pool, having her dad, Charlie, drive us to Cumberland Farms at 10pm for cookie dough, sitting with her mom in the kitchen or making up a dance or some other weird thing that 7th grade girls do.
Christ. I am old.
Sooo..I wouldn’t necessarily say that our planning was great the day we met up. I would, in fact, go so far as to say it was poor. Dragging a 3 year old boy around a field with no shade at 5:30pm when the temp in my car read 101 degrees isn’t ideal by any stretch. But that is essentially what we did and Charlie was awesome. He completely cracks me up..there was a good portion of the shoot that Charlie was certainly killing me in his mind but he was such a good boy and did what we asked him to for as long as he could. He is so beautiful and a credit to his namesake, Charlie.
This was at the beginning when he still thought that maybe we could be friends.
SO happy to have met you, Charlie! Jackie..it was the best being able to see you again. Wish that it wasn’t so oppressively hot that we could barely talk to each other! Drinks soon. xoxo, Rachel
