Huge Family Portrait:)

A couple of weeks ago I took a trip down to Barrington, RI to visit one of my favorite clients Amy and her enormous family. Remember Amy and her three awesome kids?  Well, Amy is a part of a pretty large family that all gets together for a week once a year in this crazy mansion in RI.  They invited me down to shoot some family portraits and we got tons of stuff. I am only going to put up a couple because there are just SOOO many people but I think that by looking at the large group one you will get an idea of how the day went.

I think everyone actually has their eyes open….:)

It is kind of profound. All because Amy’s mom and dad fell in love and got married ALL of those people are here today. It is a little mind-blowing to think about.

I love the next one. All of the grand children got along so great and you could tell they just really enjoyed the time they got to spend together.

And just because you need to see how big my baby twins got here’s one of Amy, John, Cody, Mia and Haley.

Thank you for inviting me down. Considering my whole entire extended family consists of about 13 people I loved seeing how much fun you all had together.

xo,

Rachel

Taegan-One Year

I mean, I can, in no way, no single, solitary way stand her.  She just might be the most precious little girl on the face of the planet and she just happens to belong to some of our closest friends, Linda and Eddie.  Taegan turns one today and she came to visit me in the studio (which by the way people, is MAGICAL) to get some one year portraits taken.  The studio has the most beautiful light and I just could not love shooting in there more. The fact that I got to shoot Taegan there is just icing on my studio cake.

I could very easily get very mushy right about now expounding on my love for Linda and Eddie and how much their friendship means to us (even though they totally bailed on us a couple of years ago for greener pastures in RI, it’s fine and I’m not bitter about the move AT ALL) but I cannot wait another second to show you how awesome Teagan is.

Linda thought it would be a good idea to get one of Taegan in her party hat and nothing else. While I have to, on some level, agree that is a cute idea, I think Taegan was totally feeling my pain when it comes to props and just thought that idea was a terrible one.

What she wanted to do was put on the pretty halter (flippin halter can’t stand it) dress I gave her for her birthday and show it off.  We obliged and things took an uphill turn.

C’mon. The little tuft of hair. Nonsense.

Awwww…team Daley.

Happy Birthday Taeggies! The world is better because you are here.

Love you,

Rachel

Those b/w ‘s are awesome!

Finally!!

This blog post makes me happy. I’m not sure that I have ever had to work so hard to make one happen. Kristen called me last year to schedule a session with me for her two awesome kids and as will happen, life can get in the way and we had to cancel.  I heard from her again in the spring and we planned for a session on the beach during their vacation to the Cape in June. Remember June? Rained every single day of their vacation. So we planned for me to drive to their house when they got back and get it done once and for all. On my way to their beautiful house the clouds rolled in and the skies opened up (shocking, I know) and by the time I got there it was hopeless.  We set a date for a few weeks later and finally, finally the stars aligned and we made it happen! I really believe it was worth the wait because we decided to go into the Public Garden (one of my favorite places to shoot) and what we got makes me smile. I know that it has everything to do with Kristen and her gorgeous, well-behaved, fun-loving babies but I am so glad to have been a part of giving her what she has wanted for awhile now.

Here you go, Kristen!

I am just in love with the light in this picture. There is a certain time of day that the light in the Public Garden is magical.

These two are awesome. Just really good kids. Like, really good.

They look like they are models for a children’s clothing catalog, don’t they?

Here I’ll give a shout out to the accommodating swan that performed the appropriately timed swim-by. Holla…

I just like this one.  I wonder if Adam’s wiggling paid off that night in the form of money under his pillow…?

The last shot I took (and probably my favorite of the bunch).

Thank you so much guys! You were great and I had so much fun with you.

Kristen, I’m so glad it finally worked out! See? You are NOT cursed:)

Brian and Scott

Any of you remember one of my favorite all time couples Kristen and Brian from their engagement session last fall? Love them. Plain and simple and couldn’t be more happy to be shooting their wedding in October.  Well, Kristen got in touch to plan a Father’s Day photo session for Brian and his little boy, Scott. Sign me up, any chance I get to hang out with Kristen I’m game. We met a couple of weeks ago at the Arboretum in Jamacia Plain and I proceeded to march the three of them around (looking back a slight bit unecessarily, whatever, hind sight is 20/20:) the place to find good places to shoot these guys. That Brian was wearing a cast and two days out from major surgery on his ankle just didn’t play a part in the trail blazing decision I made and I hope that by now he has forgiven me.

Here they are…

Scottie was too cute. Such a boy with so much personality.

Love it.

Next time you see these guys Kristen and Brian will be husband and wife. Absolutely CANNOT wait.

Thanks Scottie! See? You are famous now on the computer!

Aidan and Jack

I am back from a little mini vacation with my family and I have to say it was quite enjoyable. I put down my blackberry, had no access to a computer fully loaded with Photoshop and Lightroom and enjoyed spending uninterrupted time with my three favorite guys. That being said, right around the time we hit exit 33 on 93 south I started feeling fidgity. By the time we reached the split I was shaking my left foot back and forth, a habit that takes over when I am feeling extremely impatient or extremely annoyed when I wake up and  I can’t fall back to sleep in the middle of the night.   And when we pulled into the driveway there was no stopping to unpack for God’s sake, there was editing to be done and emails to be answered and I have been pretty much sitting here since regaining my composure and enjoying my time editing the adorable Aidan and Jack.

Margaret has been friends with my sister, Andrea for years and I really think that the last time I saw her was what seemed like 15 minutes before she delivered Jack just over one year ago.  She got in touch and I got the opportunity to spend some time with these guys and it was just like being at my house four years ago.  Funny boys.

Here’s Aidan. Rock climbing expert, little brother wrestler and comedian rolled into one.

Love the band-aid on the knee. Badge of honor.

And just turned one year old Jack. Typical second kid. Going with the flow…

I love this one. Wrestling there was plenty of that day.

What? Aidan just wanted to put “salad” on Jack’s head. What’s the big deal?

This is Jack with his birthday hat. Isn’t that innocent smile heartbreaking (in a I feel bad about what is about to happen but the picture is going to be so cute and you won’t even remember that hurt kind of way) when you  know what he’s in for? (we saved him though and the string snap was avoided).

Thank you guys! You may have been busy but you were also very cute and made it all worth while. Happy Birthday Jack!
